The Day We've all Been Waiting for

Clear your calendar! Nike and Puppet are collaborating to host the 2nd We Code Hackathon for women and friends. Web designers and developers of all levels are invited to work on a fun project in small teams at this creative and collaborative coding event. You’ll have an opportunity to meet and work with other talented people, develop your skills, and create new applications. T-shirts, prizes, and great food from local restaurants will be provided.

SCHEDULE

FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 4TH

6:00-7:00pm    Registration

7:00-7:30pm    Welcome Talks - Nike & Puppet

7:30-7:45pm    Team Assignments

7:45-10:00pm  Networking & Initial Design/Coding


Drinks & dessert will be provided.

SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 5TH

9:00-4:00pm   Coding

4:00-5:00pm   Demos

5:00-6:00pm   Judging & Awards


Breakfast, lunch, and snacks will be provided. We'll do our best to accomodate dietary needs. Vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options will be available.

WHO IS THIS FOR?

Women and friends of any level of programming experience are encouraged to join. Teams will be assigned to ensure that there is a fair distribution of skillsets and experience levels across teams.


This is meant to be a safe and welcome environment open to all without discrimination. Although this list cannot be exhaustive, we honor and respect diversity in age, culture, ethnicity, gender identity or expression, race, religion, sexual orientation, and technical ability.

CREATIVE OWNERSHIP

We want everyone to be creative! You will own your own code and can develop your project further post event. You'll just need to make sure it's original work and appropriate licenses, requirements, and approvals are in place. Full rules will be posted on the DevPost site soon.

TRANSPORTATION

We encourage you to take public transportation or bike to the event.

 

Public Transportation: The Red and Blue MAX lines, along with the #16 Bus, stop behind the building at the Oak/SW 1st Ave MAX Station. The Yellow & Green MAX lines, and many buses, stop a few blocks away at 5th Ave. & Oak St., as well as 6th Ave. & Pine St.


Biking: Bike parking is available in front of the building and in the entryway to the building garage off Stark St.

Parking: Paid parking is available in a number of nearby lots. The closest pay-to-park lots are located on Naito Parkway between Stark St. & Oak St. and on Stark St. between 2nd Ave. & 1st Ave. Covered parking is available at the Board of Trade Building at 322 SW 4th Ave.

 

CHILDCARE

Nearby drop-in daycare options are available, including WeVillage on NW 10th Ave. & Glisan St. This business is not associated with Nike or Puppet. Please contact directly for details.


Your family is welcome to join us for the demos and awards on Saturday from 4:00 to 6:00pm. Inspire a passion for technology at an early age!

 

EQUIPMENT & INTERNET

Please bring your laptop for use during the event. We will not have extra laptops available. Wifi will be provided.
